Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: 28 July 2026

GearAndGrowth is funded by affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly how that works, because you should be able to judge our recommendations knowing how we get paid.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up for a product through one, the company may pay us a commission. You pay exactly the same price. We are not paid to give good reviews, and no company has approval over what we publish.

What kind of commissions

Most of the products we write about are subscription software. The commissions are typically recurring — a percentage of what you pay, for as long as you remain a customer — rather than a one-off payment.

This is worth understanding, because it shapes our incentives in a way that happens to be useful to you: we only keep earning if you stay subscribed. Recommending something you abandon after two months earns us almost nothing. Our financial interest and your interest in a good recommendation point in the same direction.

Some products pay a one-time referral fee instead. Where that is the case, the same rules below still apply.

How we stop it affecting the reviews

One rule, and it is structural rather than a promise:

Products are researched, scored and ranked before anyone checks whether they have an affiliate programme. Links are added afterwards, to a verdict that is already final. If the best tool in a category pays us nothing, it still wins — and we say so on the page.

We also include products with no affiliate programme at all whenever they are the right answer. A recommendation list that perfectly matches a commission list is not credible, and we would rather you could tell the difference.

Where affiliate links appear

  • Inside comparison tables and verdict boxes
  • In “check pricing” style buttons
  • Occasionally within article text where a product is named

Every page containing affiliate links carries a disclosure above the first such link, not buried in the footer. Affiliate links carry rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines can identify them.

What we do not do

  • We do not accept payment for a positive review
  • We do not let companies review articles before publication
  • We do not rank by commission rate
  • We do not run display advertising anywhere on this site
  • We do not publish sponsored posts disguised as editorial

Pricing accuracy

We do not display automatically scraped prices, because stale pricing is worse than none. Prices quoted in articles are recorded with the date we verified them, and software pricing changes often. Always confirm current pricing with the provider before you buy.

Questions or complaints

If you think a recommendation on this site has been influenced by a commercial relationship, please tell us. We will either explain the reasoning publicly or correct the page.
